Ability through Covid-19

People often ask how Ability has coped with Covid-19. As with most organisations, there have been changes in the way we have had to go about our work. As a small organisation, it has been easier in some ways to make these changes and adapt to the new context. For example, we were able to move into Zoom assessments very quickly, especially in view of our previous research in this area. We have also been fortunate in the sense that disability funding is comparatively secure and not exposed to the vagaries of the market. We did benefit from some government funding aimed at supporting small businesses. And we were on-the-spot to rapidly expand our brokerage service at the time when the NDIA made it easier for clients to move to telehealth services via low-end tablets and laptops. So overall, we have done pretty well through the challenges of the last year.
